{Blog Tour} Suit Up for Summer with Raspberry Creek Fabrics

EEEK... so begins SUMMER OF SWIM... again!

Last summer, I finally took the plunge and sewed swimsuits for my girls and by the time summer was over, they had about 4 or so each (maybe more... I lost count).  I am SO excited to kick this Summer of Swim off with the Suit Up for Summer Blog Tour with Raspberry Creek Fabrics!  I have recently discovered Raspberry Creek Fabrics and I'm so glad I did!  Not only do they have a wide variety of prints and styles, they are a MATTE swim material and also have the ability to mix and match prints in the collection.  Many of them also come in board short material!

I let my girls have free reign of  picking the fabrics and the patterns.  I was pleasantly surprised when they (separately) chose coordinating fabric!  (Although my youngest had the sharks a close second choice.)   Truth be told, the two watermelon prints were top of my list too!  My youngest chose the Tossed Watermelon print and my oldest selected Tossed Watermelon Seed.

I'm including the stock pictures from the website because indoor lighting isn't my favorite and my eyeballs are about to bleed from trying to edit them properly...lol

My youngest knew right away that she wanted a repeat sew of one of last year's makes that is getting too small.  She practically lived in the two Catalina Swimsuits by Violette Field Threads I made last year (stealing her sister's too!).  This year, I sized up a width and made a 6w/7L.  She does most of her growing in the summer months so I wanted it to still fit her at the end of August.

She, of course, wanted no ruffles but wanted the Tossed Watermelon Seed to be the top accent and tie.  Because the back of the material is white, I lined the tie as a design preference.

These materials are 50+ UPF Protection which gives me peace of mind as we spend our summer days practically living at the pool.  The fabrics were really easy to sew.  I didn't experience any slipping either!  I also lined the entire suit with swimsuit lining, also from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

My oldest ventured out to try a new (to us) pattern and chose the Lainey Swimsuit from Made for Mermaids after perusing all of the sponsors (thank you sponsors!).  She prefers more of a sleek look so it was no surprise when she wanted the bikini with no frills and made in just the Tossed Watermelon Seed.

This is my first swimsuit I've sewn by Made for Mermaids (despite me buying last years releases for my growing pattern collection...lol) and I really loved how the bottoms were sewn together.  It's a rather genius way to attach it all so it's fully lined and the seams are not only hidden but all attached so the lining isn't slipping around!  Now, I can't wait to try the ones I bought last year!

She's busy checking to see how many days are left until our life at the pool begins!!

P.S. The girls have promised me a reshoot of these at the pool once it opens because indoor pics are kind of duds for swimwear.  I'll update in a few weeks if they hold true...HA!!

In the meantime, check out the awesome line up of bloggers and of course, the amazing sponsors (and some sweet discount codes through tomorrow only)!!  Don't forget to visit Raspberry Creek Fabrics and plan your summer swimwear now!

  1. Your photos look so great, even if they are indoors! I also knew my daughter would want those prints, but I was too slow and they were already chosen before I got around to it! (But she still loves the ones I did sew up!!). Your girls have great taste!
