I couldn't resist the chance of "hanging with my gnomies" (aka my blogging friends) and knocking out my girls' Easter dresses in one fell swoop with the Gnome Matter What! {Blog Tour}.

This fabric line features whimsical gnomes, snails and other lawn ornaments. It also incorporates gorgeous sketched blooms and soft spring colors of lilac, peach, seafoam, cream, and gray.  It was hard to narrow down my fabric choices, but in the end, I chose to feature Set Vines in Lilac and Sketchbook Garden in Natural.

After I selected my fabrics, I turned to Little Lizard King to find two patterns to best showcase the prints.  Immediately, the Bloom Collection, LLK's newest releases, caught my eye.  This collection features 3 dresses, each named after a famous garden.  Since I only have the two girls, I enlisted their help in choosing the patterns.

My oldest daughter chose the Versailles Dress, which also comes in maxi length.  We both thought that the Set Vines in Lilac was a perfect match of "sweet" for this pattern.  I *almost* made it maxi length, but I am hoping to squeeze in a doll version of this before Easter so I wanted to save the leftovers.

Gah! I am SO in 💜 this gorgeous back detailing of the Versailles Dress by Little Lizard King. The ruffles create a dainty and delicate look which shows off the softness of the fabric. In the pattern, I followed the sizing chart and instructions for grading the pattern down to match my daughter's petite waist. I love how it fits her perfectly!

My youngest daughter was drawn to the Monet Dress -- "but no ruffles, Mommy". The Monet dress features a pieced bodice, so I used the Set Vines in Lilac as the contrasting side panels and used the Sketchbook Garden in Natural as the main print for the dress. At 6 years old, she has become uber picky about what she wears. This dress recieved all the smiles!!

The back detailing mimics the front bodice. This dress is really easy to put together and fast (especially without the ruffles).

Gnome Matter What! is such a fun line of fabric. It is so pretty in person and sews up beautifully. My girls definitely love their Easter dresses and I'm thankful they are finished with days to spare...lol.

{BLOG TOUR} One Thimble E-zine: Issue #14

Hello, One Thimble fans 💖 I am so happy to be back on tour with One Thimble -- I had to sit out last issue because I was moving... Issue 14 is AMAZING... my list of must sew patterns is long!

In case you are new to One Thimble, here are some key details:

  • It's an electronic magazine.  Download it on your computer, tablet, phone, grab your favorite beverage and persuse at your lesiure.  I like to sit with a fresh cup of coffee and read in one sitting (if my girls allow 😜).  I like to see all the pattern details before I pick my projects so I can mentally start prepping.
  • It has an average of 10-12 patterns per issue that are exclusive to the release of One Thimble.  Generally, a couple of the articles included have a tutorial to make a little something as well (bonus patterns as I call it!)
  • It's $25 AUD (which is really like $19 and change  in USD)
  • The early bird really does get the worm.... order TODAY and get the early bird bonus!

Included in this issue:

  • #113 Thread Faction Romper (size 2-10)
  • Amuse Boho Dress and Tunic (ladies size xs-xxxl)
  • Justin Drop Crotch Pants (size 2-16)
  • Timber! Quilt (baby or twin size)
  • Trillium Dress and Tunic (size 2T-12)
  • Lala Skirt (size 1-10)
  • Thyme Vest (size 2-12)
  • Loli Dress & Top (size 2-10)
  • Enchanting Woodland Meadow Playscape (handsewn)
  • Wild Things Hottie Cover (3 options)

plus 27 articles -- including 6 mini tutorials, exclusive coupon codes, etc.

I am in awe of all that Jen packed into just one issue.  As I mentioned above, my "to-sew" list is long and because I thought it'd be a good idea to sign up for a blog tour the day after my daughter's birthday, my sewing time was cut short and some planned projects didn't get made.... but totally will!

On my NEED stat list (and is totally dictated by the styles my girls love) is the Lala Skirt, Thyme Vest, and the Enchanting Woodland Meadow Playscape.

My other WANTS are the Amuse Boho Dress, a {Panda} Wild Things Hottie Cover (even though we don't own a hot water bottle.... LOL), the Wolf Masks, and the Lion & Cub Softie.

The articles that struck me the most "Mastering the Art of Mindful Sewing", "Stress Free Invisible Zippers", "Interview with Candice Ayala" and "Represent: The Secrets for Success with Brand Reps".  I have been practicing mindful sewing before I even knew there was a term. HA!  I hate to admit this, but I have yet to try installing an invisible zip, despite owning both patterns using them and the actual zips.

I could go on and on, but I have to get to what I've sewn!!

First up, I sewed the Trillium Tunic & Maxi by Petite Stitchery & Co. in Maxi length.  I rarely take the opportunity to sew my daughters maxi dresses, but I had bought this particular fabric with a maxi in mind and it's total love.  This pattern covers sizes 2-12 and features a colorblocked bodice (optional), tunic version (no gathering) and a maxi version.  I think it would also look adorable as a dress length too.

I originally was not going to do a colorblocked bodice, but when I decided to use mini stripes for my bodice, it became a MUST -- thank you mindful sewing for reminding me to take my time and enjoy the {creative} process.

Despite it being the middle of February... we've had a taste of warmth and we are ready for summer!!  This was my first pattern by Petite Stitchery and it came together beautifully!  I did find it slightly tricky to blend sizes with the colorblocked bodice, but I did figure it out.  To be fair, though, I was blending a size 3 width with a 6 height.  (She'll grow someday, right?! She's almost 8 😆)

Keeping summer on my mind, I had to try my first Bobkin pattern (shame on me, I know) so I grabbed Loli and found some fabric with the same vibe as my Trillium. Unfortunately, it turned cold again (the nerve.... lol) before I was done sewing, so we turned indoor for pictures.

The Loli Top and Dress by Bobkin is a sweet summer top and dress with shoulder ties (criss-cross or plain) and covers sizes 2-10.  The unique curved bodice adds charm and is perfect to add in a coordinating print or funky buttons. The back comes with two options, button closure or elastic.

I had hoped for enough of this fabric for a dress length, but I could only fit the top out of the yardage I had in my stash.  It will be perfect with shorts at the park this summer!  I lined my bodice with my striped fabric and when I ironed the seams, I intentionally let the lining pop out a bit for added detail.

The back is just so sweet.  Summer seriously cannot come fast enough.

My favorite thing about this pattern is she had a pattern piece for EVERYTHING!!!  I also loved that she had the intended finished length marked on the ties' pattern pieces.  She also provides two methods for sewing -- depending on your preference.

Whew! I'm exhausted -- after some much needed sleep, I'll be sewing up a Lala Skirt!!  What will you sew first?

P.S. Don't sign up for a blog tour the day after your kids birthday 😜
