The Doc is In!

My 3 year old LOVES Doc McStuffins!  I was thrilled when she picked a Doc McStuffins themed birthday party for her upcoming 4th birthday.  I try to create something unique for my girls' birthday which coordinates with their theme.   I knew right away that I wanted to create a party dress for Marissa to celebrate her big day. I finally decided to make her the Addison dress by ModKid.  I bought the pattern a few months ago because it looked like such a fun dress!  ModKid's pattern have very detailed directions to make it easy to follow along. I couldn't find purple and white striped fabric like Doc wears so I made my own!  I took strips 2 inches of both white and purple and pieced them together as you would a quilt.  Then I top-stitched on the purple strips to tack down the seams.  It all came together fairly quickly (as quickly as it can when you are only sewing from 8:30 pm and on!)

Here is Marissa is her Doc McStuffins dress!

I'm pretty sure she'd never take it off.  She's already asked to wear it.  I'm making her wait for her birthday though!

Being goofy during our photo shoot.

Checking herself out in a mirror.

I placed the mirror there to try to capture the light from the window, but I like how she used it during the shoot.

She's so grown up!

Her smile can't get any bigger than this!

I've been wanting to start a blog for a while and I came across a sewing competition and it required a blog - so here I am!!  I hope to upload the projects I've created since I received my sewing machine last August for my birthday.  Until then, happy sewing!
